I worked for a recruiting firm so FWIW
Having no opinion of ur players ability, or your ability to spot talent please understand this is not meant to be a criticism of either of you. Just a perspective.

Programs are inundated with emails, mail, voicemails, etc about "the next big recruit bovines heard of yet." I believe BYU may get more of that from "fans/family" than maybe 80% of D1 football programs. In order to get a coach to even open a message let alone watch a tape it's extremely difficult. And that's for a position coach or intern not the HC. The email subject, description in the body determines whether the email is even forwarded on to a coach (rarely are they not filtered by a admin staff first) and at best someone with clout even reads the email let alone opens the video. The few who's videos are opened rarely get viewed past the 10 second mark due to not understanding how to edit a highlight tape for a coach.

Consider the possibility that BYU has such a high national following almost exclusively by LDS members, and the percentage of BYU fans who have kids in HS athletics (and every parent/uncle thinks their kid is elite) and dream of watching a family member run out of the tunnel in Provo. Now multiply that several times over and u see an idea of how many "check out this kid" communications they get every day. Fball coaches are focused on game prep right now, and planned recruiting trips/contact with known prospects at this time. At best Ull be lucky to get attention from a GA/admin asking for more film/info on a kid they haven't heard of.

If he's a senior now and not being recruited the best avenue for the next level is either a hard sell to D2-3 schools, OR a in state low level D1 team who's thin at his position and may overlook him due to a small recruiting budget. I've seen kids get last min D1 full schollies to P5 schools for odd reasons.

If he's a Jr then the verbiage used in email subjects and the way tape is edited, combined with the kid reaching our weekly to the school and knowing what to say will make a big difference.

But ultimately, every team has walkons AND the big secret in recruiting is a kids parents couldn't care less if his tuition is paid by athletic scholarship, or combining several non-athletic financial sources to pay his way and be considered "non-scholarship" s free ride and chance to play is all that matters. And there are thousands of scholarships a yr that go I awarded because kids are too lazy to google
