I went to BYU camps back to back years, sent in my highlight tape to Doman who was my region's recruiter (CA) during the time. We had a few emails back in forth even though in the first one he said that he thought I might be a little short on speed to play at the D1 level (I played receiver). He did send me a couple tips and said that depending on how a summer of training went I would have a good chance to make the squad as a walk on. I got injured in June during the East West shrine game, and after letting him know of that, he said if I could go at the time of the walk on try out he could see if I looked fit enough. I did ok at the tryout, didnt make the team, and he sent me a final email saying that if I worked hard it could be a possibility post mission. Long story short I kind of gave up on the dream and never went back.

But for what it's worth Doman gave me a decent amount of time for someone who at best was going to walk on. So it probably just depends on the coach.
