They continue to sacrifice lifestyle things they could easily afford to preserve their savings.

I think it's a generational thing. Non of the kids need it but it's still important to them so I support that decision and bite my tongue when I think they should be enjoying the fruits of their many years of wise money choices.

It's amazing to me they have accumulated as much as they have from very modest earnings over their lifetime.

Today's generation could learn a few lessons from them about sacrifice and living within your means.
