I'm sure you are not a statistics guy, but one year is not a trend
Last year was an interesting year with injuries to Gasol, Davis and Griffin really hurting teams out West (not to mention the Goberts of the world missing time). It also was one of the few years where you had multiple teams in the West trying to tank early on (something that has been going on for years in the East).

I would be extremely surprised if the margin of the West over the East this year isn't extremely high. 16 out of 17 years is flat out incredible. What are the odds of getting heads 16 out of 17 flips? Not good at all. 1 in 7710. It is pretty easy to see that the West has better organizations than the East.
