1. Desire to improve: As he explained to Dave Rose and as he shared publicly upon having his scholarship taken in April of 2015, Isaac understood what he had to change. He said he expressed to the Coach he intended to gain strength and improve conditioning so he could better compete in the low post. He was determined to toughen up. Isaac has since gained about 30 pounds and transformed his values from a guy who hated pounding in the low post to a player who would relish it.
2. He goes up against the toughest competition he will face all year in practice everyday in 7'0" monster Akolda Manyang, redshirt transfer from Oklahoma, who is as big, strong, and fast as anyone Isaac will face. And while he is not yet super skilled, Manyang is meaner than all of them combined. Isaac has had to generate a lot of courage to stand up to that NBA prospect.
3. He has terrific unselfish teammates who can pass and shoot; and in Mark Pope and staff, better coaching than i had expected.
He has always had a nice touch.
