Sacks are a combo of scheme and pure individual talent, and Tautu was a
better individual talent than many realize. But, QBH's are more a reflection of the scheme, which is why it is lower than the other yrs, and we could all feel it during games as we held our breath, wondering if they were ever actually going to get to the QB on some plays. When they did bother the QB sufficiently, our great defensive backfield commonly preyed upon errant passes.

Also, I suspect the scheme conservatism on pass rush was partly a result of personnel strengths and weaknesses, both on the line, and at LB. Still, regardless of sub-optimal QB pressure, the overall D was very good at TO's and vs the run, and showed flashes of greatness in coverage / passes defended, especially the Warner brothers and Lake, but Nacua will be missed, unless some of the incoming recruits fill the void better than expected. Anyway, if we can get some real Hauses on pass rush, enough to make opposing QB's at least uncomfortable back there, look out for this defense next year. They could be TCU-esque (from their glory years)
