If you chase someone in your car, it's foreseeable that you or they will crash eventually. It wasn't a reasonable thing to do. I would lean towards less than 5 years in jail as punishment, because I don't think he intended to kill her. It was just incredibly foolish of him to take a risk that could cost the life of the woman he was chasing. He then didn't own up to his mistake, which makes punishing him that much easier.
