Because that's where his body went
He didn't go up, his lower body went forward and his upper body stopped.. He wasn't off balance, he didn't jump and land. Just because he wasn't looking at the ground doesn't mean he didn't know what he was doing. Again, it's possible he didn't mean to get quite that close, but I just don't think it was a typical play.

I think it can be unintentional, and still dirty. Did he know Leonard would get hurt? No. Still a dirty play? I think so

He said that play almost never happens even though a nearly identical setup happens. Meaning Zaza did something more.
