o's insight.
Cowherd in the past is usually a guy that likes to make big picture emotional arguments that aren't grounded in film, or objectivity.
As for his team not having success it's pretty easy to pinpoint when watching them play. They had a ridiculously bad coach and they didn't have a roster that could be taken seriously.
The game I watched there was a sequence where they trapped Fultz with 3 guys in the pnr and he torched the defenders with a beautiful bounce pass to the roll man who caught the ball and then dribbled it off his foot.
When I say "sequence" I am saying the play I mentioned above happened 3 times in 5 possessions.
The opposing team started doubling and tripling Fultz every play and even though Fultz made the right play almost every time his team mates couldn't capitalize... And then his team mates wouldn't get back on D and Fultz would try to chase down and block the other team from behind...which he successfully did on one of those plays.
He's not perfect... But I blame coaching and teammates for their lack of success.
Before college Fultz dominated in FIBA and was the mvp of the USA team that won.
