Because BYU athletics is a missionary arm of the Church...
It has been stated numerous times by church leaders. BYU is a missionary tool. It brings exposure to the church. That is why it blows my mind when ALUFs hate BYU athletics. It's like saying you hate the New York Rochester Mission because of few of the missionaries act like knuckleheads.
