Some of it is based on the generally higher standard of acceptance rates as well as how often we hear about various players getting suspended for academic issues on the team. I tend to think BYU and Utah have comparable levels of intelligence across the board but I hear less about academic suspensions on Utah's side. I admit I don't follow them very much. I just know I never really hear about suspensions from Utah other than sitting out an FCS game for drunk driving down the highway on the wrong side of the road. Sorry if that seems like a low blow but that's just the realty.
I had classes with a starting linebacker some years back. He came to class a couple times total. Somehow got a B. Maybe he had it worked it somehow to work independently but let's be honest, even BYU let's their FB athletes slide more than the common student.
I just have a feeling based on what I see that Utah doesn't hold their students to the same standard as their counterparts in Provo.
