catastrophic event. OC's and DC's are almost always on shorter leashes however so if Ty doesn't have the offense showing significant improvements by seasons end then his seat should in fact be very warm. It comes with the territory of being a college football coordinator. Pay attention, you might notice OC's being let go more frequently than you originally thought. But if byu allows for epic levels of failure due to a name then they are showing they aren't a real football program if names matter more than results. It's a harsh world in college football, it just is.
Ty seems like a great guy, his Heisman trophy and lengthy NFL career are impressive and the guy is obviously a byu legend but that said those of you who think bringing in a new system requires several years and several recruiting classes to resemble competency well... I'd say I disagree with that. It doesn't take 2-3 years to teach D1 level football players a different way to move the football. The caliber of player at byu isn't stupid and is plenty athletic. Can the recruiting improve? Sure, I'll take that but pretending the offensive woes are because the offense needs another 1-2 years to bake before it should be ready is wrong. Either that or the decision to completely change was a leadership failure.
Instead of a complete overhaul it would seem subtle adjustments over time would have been more appropriate and successful.
