So throwing to 280 lbs receivers with rocks for hands would really open up the
offense too much for the game to be entertaining? I'm not convinced.

D's are trained to watch linemen. It helps them know if a play is a run or pass. If linemen fire off the ball and are

also: linemen downfield rule has to do with letting the defense know its a run
