Did you ever get a 'swat' at school? (Childhood story time)
I did...once. It's a story right out of the Christmas Story if you could get inside of the mind of a little boy.

But here goes anyway.

3rd grade. It was a snowy day and recess was a winter wonderland for a couped up kid at school. We had played in the snow all recess and was feeling a bit mischievous as there was an existing "No Snowballs" rule in place. But the snow was perfect for snow balls and snowball fights. My and my buddy had scooped up a bunch of the perfect snow, and formed it into a perfect snowball. The only thing missing, was the target.

I was patting and smoothing out the snowball and scouring the school grounds for someone to huck this perfect snowball at. What I didn't realize was as I was constantly smoothing out the snowball, the heat from the friction and my hand were slightly melting the snowball, and forming a perfect ice layer to the outside of the snowball...making it even MORE perfect of a projectile!

My lunch bell rang and I had not unloosed this snowball. Enter "Steve" my neighbor who was in the 6th grade, and pretty much a known twerp in the neighborhood. He was just coming out for lunch as I was leaving. I thought to myself, "I'm gonna give him a scare by throwing this warning shot over the bow".

Now...he was at a maximum range for a 3rd grader. At the time, it looked to me as if he was a hundred yards away, and there was no chance that I could hit him, but, the fact that his 3rd grade neighbor would dare chuck a snowball at a 6th grader, might gain me some pretty good street cred in the ol hood. So, with all my might, I wound up and let that baby fly. That snowball was an aerodynamic thing of beauty. I flew threw the air on a mission.

I yelled his name, so as he knew that his little 3rd grade neighbor was a bit more feisty than he thought, and had the audacity to throw a snowball at him. "Stttteeeeeeevvvveee"!

He turned to look at who called his name, and as you would know it....that son of a gun rained down from the sky like a meteor and smacked him right in face! The iceball/snowball....hit him right at the bridge of his nose, between the eyes! Tom Brady couldn't have connected with his target any more precise! It was a thing of beauty.

However, I knew I was doomed! My friend and I ran to our room hoping the snowball's impact fogged his memory of who threw it. No such luck. About 20 minutes into class a knock came to our room, and someone asked if "Little Borg" was in the classroom, and to send me to see "Mr. Bacchus". Mr. Bacchus was the known disciplinarian. We all knew he had the paddle that he would swat kids with.

I was as calm as a lamb going to the slaughter. I knew I had done wrong, and deserved whatever it was that I was going to receive. Looking back now, I kind of am amazed that I had that kind of "fess up and take your punishment for your actions" mentality I had in the 3rd grade. So, I knocked on his door and he invited me in.

"Little Borg....did you know that there is a 'no throwing snowball' rule at the school? Yes. Were you the one who threw a snowball and hit Steve _____ in the face? Yes, I did. You understand that there is a punishment for those that break the rules. Yes. Bend over. Sssssssswwwwwack!! (Got it by Mr. Bacchus' paddle) Now, no more throwing snowballs so you won't hurt anyone else. Ok." Out the door I went.

Now, I'll admit it stung a bit, but I take it as a badge of honor of a perfectly thrown snowball facing certain repurcussions of challenging a 6th grader. I also think Mr. Bacchus took it easy on me too...not hitting me too awfully hard, but hard enough to make a point. I had been a good kid all my days, and this was my first offense, as well as not giving him any crap, just a Yes sir, no sir type answers.

Lol....my only day I got in trouble in all of elementary school days.

Did anyone else get a 'swat' or am I the only one old enough who goes back far enough that they still disciplined kids at school?

Let's hear your story.
