Also all the listed schools, while not great footbal programs, do at the very lesat have D1 programs, whereas Wash U is D3, so even further down in athletic relevance. Also, some of those schools I had no idea were good academically, like Pepperdine, which could further prove the point. I am in the medical field and had literally never heard of Wash U until I was applying to medical school, and was shocked to find out it was one of the top programs.
