I’m in a very similar situation.
I’m pretty certain I’m going to take the risk. It’s scary to abandon a promising career track but the upside is so much greater. I think you have to be mentally prepared to devote your life to the new venture and make it your top priority above all else for several years. If all goes well you can eventually hire managers to ease your burden and enjoy the flexibility that comes with it but it could also crash and burn and you’re job hunting.
