anymore. He is evaluating situations daily, hourly...and is trying to make things as good as possible for BYU.
With the way things have played out, I don't even know what is 'good' for BYU anymore. The WCC has killed our brand of basketball. Our zenith years of Jimmer and SDSU's with Kawhi have all but been annihilated by our floundering and inability to win the WCC title and/or tournament. Independence, which could have worked, has seen us flounder and get pummeled just when we need to have breakout years the most....critical we win, and we have been the suckiest sucks that ever sucked. So, our football cache' is in the tank...with who knows how long to climb out. We've got to get ourselves out of the WCC...but I don't see it happening. We NEED to be in a P5...but that's not happening either. I think the MWC is out to humble BYU by the way...I think if they can, they will take the Zags, but not even invite BYU. They will expand, and try and kill us at the same time if they could.
I, personally, was really enjoying the MWC with Utah and TCU. The Big 3 was fun to see each other beat each other up to see who survived. I think the MWC, with the addition of BSU was a P5 conference. But...I digress.
I just can't get excited about BYU athletics right now. We're in the doldrums. New coaching staff in football, new system, recruits taking 4 years to even make a difference.... I'm fading into the bushes like Homer Simpson...and will take a more cautious approach to BYU sports. It could be while. Tom is sorting this out, and will do what's best for us, to work every angle to get us in the best position possible.
