Since the AAC fanbases are smaller than the Big XII, I think there would be less
Pressure from the student body than there was in the Big XII. Remember that most of that stuff last time came not from presidents but from "student council resolutions." (Except for the letter from the national group).
In addition, if the AAC were smart enough to do the negotiations in secret instead of putting on a big show like the Big XII did, there would also be less pressure.
