Yes but plenty of "responsible" and "normal" law abiding citizens
are do things like texting and driving, or looking around. Not to mention we're talking about a self-driving car here. It's got to be kind of difficult to really pay 100% attention to things ahead of you every second when you're not even in control of the car. We're human. Eyes and attention will naturally wander when there's no forced requirement while you're sitting (don't have to physically step on the gas to go, or touch the wheel to turn).

I just don't see how that specific thing has anything to do with criminal history. It would make sense if the person WAS paying attention and purposely drove right into a person they clearly saw. This example just doesn't seem fit at all for correlating criminal record with the person being hit.

Hiring the person in the first place and measures they take on that end of things? Absolutely. It's something to pay attention to. But not this specific accident. There's just nothing to really tie the two together, especially after watching the video.
