As a BYU fan that claims the 1984 National Title, I don't begrudge them doing it
Yes we were voted in on the AP and Coaches polls, and they weren't. But I think that was just a phenomenon governed by the culture of how voting went.
I would feel a little hypocritical as a BYU fan to say they have no right while hanging my own banner. It IS different, but not by as much as many on here would like to believe. The fact that they beat the team that beat both the title contenders makes it more compelling than just going undefeated.
