From my experience at BYU Law in the 90s
that figure doesn’t surprise me. I was surprised how many students had no plans to seek employment that required passing a bar exam. For example, there was a seminary teacher that just wanted a graduate degree to advance in the CES. Every student I knew doing the joint JD-MBA went the business route. There was a group of CPAs, most of which went to accounting firms. There was even an aspiring author of children’s books, and a student that went to work for church administration. Some of them took and passed the bar, but it wasn’t required by their employment.
