Oh, i agree it could have been done better.Your last sentence though
Is incorrect. When BYU who already doesnt have elite talent is THAT far down the depth chart at qb and rb and we know the "talent" at wr was already crappy then BYU is no longer the superior talented team.
Iirc for instance UMASS went to starkville and was hanging AT starkville for awhile.

You are over inflating byu's talent level.
Clemsons loss in regular season last year? When their qb got hurt and the back up had to play. Florida State went from number TWO in the country and expected playoff team to a disaster ...when they lost their startimg qb

In CFB Qb play js everyhjing..If you dont have that then you better have a Dominant O line and a stable of nfl running backs

BYU had none of that.
So dont diminish those other schools vs BYU yalent of yester year. They have D1 talent ,scholarship players
.unlike our walk on Qb freshman Qb and RB that were the players BYU had at the end of the year
Dont forget our talent was sooo bad that we only had 1 TE!
As an indictment of rb depth talent due to injury Ula was CLEARLY our best rb and he was ..
1. Out of shape. NOT conditiomed.

2. Coming off an injury in Fall.

3
Fresh off a mission and new to the offense as of Fall camp.

That guy was the most talented and it showed over the other guys who had been in the progamr, lifting eating right learning the offense for a couple years.
Recall Burt beimg bounced back and forth to try to improve rb talent.

Them we had a HC stating he wanted the offemse to take more chances/be agressive repeatedly
Take more chances does not mean hand the ball off.
Yes vs UMass we threw the ball a ton and perhaps we should have tried running more.

Vs cover zero thats what most oc 's would do and tear a defense apart. BYU didnt have the qb nor the wrs to beat UMASS cover zero. That really is all you need to know about how bad BYU's talent was at that point.
