It may be the single largest reason for the "emerging adult movement" and extended immaturity into the 30s. We've turned college into a paid for party and little to no responsibility. My daughter was surprised when a roommate of hers withdrew from a $2000 or so housing contract. They are so easy to sell, but her roommate said "Why sell it. My parents paid for it." So the room went empty for the term. My niece lied to her parents and used $45,000 of their second mortgage to party for 3 years before being caught.
I'm a hardyewt, but I believe kids should pay for their own missions, college, and pretty much everything after becoming "an adult." If not, you are not an adult.
But the above is opinion. 😉
