about leadership. There were things about Bronco that I did care for as a head coach, but leadership was not one of them. He may not have been a very eloquent or engaging public speaker, but he knew what to say and what not to say publicly - to media, the fans, boosters, etc.
As the head of any successful organization you simply have to understand how you present your organization/team/whatever publicly. Publicly you praise individually but you criticize and critique individually in private. It's fine to publicly criticize a group or yourself ("I mismanaged the last 2 minutes of the half" or "our receivers have struggled to get open from their press coverage"), but you don't criticize publicly. Ever. Even if it's warranted. You take care of business in house. Especially if you are calling out others to take heat off of yourself. That does nothing but show that you - the person who is supposed to be in charge - has little to no control.
