Better 1 than none.

I'm a huge Ty Detmer fan, but his offense finished ranked 123rd in the country.  Kalani's team finished 109th in winning percentage.  Both were utter failures in their duties.  If both deserved to be fired, isn't BYU better off firing one of them compared to keeping both?

Why was Ty fired and not Sitake?

1) It is much easier and less disruptive to the program to replace a coordinator than than it is to replace a head coach.

2) Sitake's winning percentage was tied for 29th in 2016.  Ty's offense was ranked 71st.

BYU finishing 9-4 in 2016 and the difficulty on replacing a HC bought Kalani another year.  Ty's offense had one below average year and one historically awful year.
