BYU coaches took a long time to get interested in him as a potential D1 player

They were late to the game compared to Utah.

I've read here on CB there's also some supposed bad blood or some type of controversy between his older brother from his time at BYU.... others likely know this story a lot better than I do. Something to do with how the team handled his injuries?
