He didn’t like the way his brother or relative was treated while at BYU (the Covey that transferred). But wasn’t his main issue. Anae told him he was only worth a walk-on spot at best and would probably never see the field. Whittingham took a different angle. He told Covey specific roles in the offensive scheme and special teams at Utah where he’d play a major part. KW and the Utah coaches had a specific vision for Covey’s skill set at Utah and they were right.
