They still combined for over 70 catches and 800 yds. It's not like they were nonexistent.

It's a straight truth that BYU typically isn't very deep at WR and that TEs and backs are quite heavily used. So there's a good amount of truth on both sides. No matter how we look at it, we had more WRs doing things than we typically do. There's usually only 2 or 3 guys really doing much, and we had 3 at the top, all deserving of the catches they got. Our 4th receiver had almost 500 yds. It's better than the days where you had Collie and Reed and that's it. Even the year after when more receivers were needed and should have been able to step up, they really didn't all that much. They weren't deep.

Plus Holliday brought us back from some poor recruiting years. WR recruiting for a stretch was probably worse than anything except that OL stretch. In 3 years we only brought in like 3 guys. It's like they were so excited about getting Apo in 2010, they thought they wouldn't have to go get any more receivers. One WR in 2010. None in 2011. 2 in 2012, but both were mission guys. That's straight up awful recruiting.

People like Holliday because of what he did for us in multiple ways, none of which include being a social media presence.
