I had a friend's son who said he went to UofU over BYU because of the FB team
He said something to the effect of both schools are equal on paper but he wanted a school that had a better football team to follow and feel a part of.
A year later when he failed out of UofU for drug use and other bad behavior leading to bad grades he admitted he was never accepted into BYU in the first place. Kind of a sad story.
