Kalani had one year of talent and exp to work with (2016) and he acquitted himself pretty well in his first year when he had talent and depth to work with (9 wins, broke Bronco's 3 bowl game losing streak and was 8 pts away from having a special season). After that the team was poorly positioned to maintain that standard of success.

It was much like how things were when Lavell retired. Crowton had a bunch of experienced talent for one season and then had major rebuilding after that for 3 yrs.
