than forcing an outdated method just because that's "how it has always been". There are many more tools available for todays students than there were when I was a kid. Internet speeds and technologies allow for many of these things that they didn't 20 years ago. It's easy to just chalk it up to the same lazy students finally getting their lazy way, but that's a selfish way to look at it.
