Maybe because I’ve been outside the ranges you’re talking about? Maybe because I’m a faculty? Idk.
My grandfather donated a long time ago when he got these seats at LES that I use now. And no, I’m not with the donors down toward the front. I’m about 3/4 or more to the top of the West stands at about the 40ish yard line.
As for Bama, perhaps not every seat in their stadium requires a donation? At least maybe it didn’t in 2011-2012. Yes, my seats were outside the 25. But, they were also slightly closer to the field than my BYU seats. And I’d be surprised if my old Bama season tickets increased 350% over the next 5 years like my BYU tickets did. If they did, I’ll eat crow.
But like you said, it’s apples to oranges. Not only because my Bama seats were further from midfield, but also because Bama puts a much different product on the field and draws much different teams for their home schedule. So my thinking when I made that original post was that those factors were a “wash.” I’m guessing you feel otherwise.
