there should absolutely be charges pressed. I played basketball my whole life on traveling teams, jr. high, high school and college. Only had one issue of a cheap shot (albeit not as blatant as this one). I took an elbow to the mouth when my team was on a fast break and I was on the other end of the floor getting up after diving for a rebound. It knocked my front three teeth out. My teeth didn't break off at the gum-line like they often do, they came out root and all.
Since this incident, I have easily paid around $10k in dental bills and am finding out now that my body is rejecting these teeth. So, now I have to get two more implants (I have already had one). It's been a painful situation with multiple oral surgeries.
After the elbow, the opposing player laughed as he walked off the court and I picked my teeth up. There was never any remorse or responsibility, so I tend to want to be more harsh in this instance.
