one thing is abundantly clear in the business of college football: NO ONE is ever content. The P5's will continue to eat their own. Remember when there were 6 BCS conferences? Remember the Big East? Remember the SWC? The greed in college football knows no bounds.
The big thing that is actually different now is that TV value has changed. The TV market has fragmented, kids are less interested in sports, and the biggest player in the Sports TV industry is in financial turmoil. The go forward picture for these schools getting the kind of money they have been enjoying does not look good for many. It's not the case for everyone however. The alphas will take more of the share and become even richer, but the stragglers will be shot in the process. I expect the SEC will continue to separate themselves from the pack, and the rest will fight for scraps, which will inevitably lead to upheaval/consolidation.
Hope for BYU? Unfortunately no, as this likely means a smaller more exclusive group, not expansion. It also doesn't help that BYU has shot its own program in the foot slowly the past few years. We are losing value with every mediocre season.
