You're right that consistently being 15-20 spots higher in recruiting would

make them satisfactorily competitive, but getting non-lds kids to want live the hc wouldn't just happen if BYU were P5. BYU would have to figure out a way to really accommodate non-lds athletes and I'm not sure that's possible... I think BYU has to solve that problem before a P5 conference will think BYU has the potential to recruit at a quality P5 level.
