I was contracted software engineer and they wouldn't give me enough work to do. We worked a 4-10 schedule so I was in to work by 6:30 every day. The problem is that I would be done with my assigned work for the day by around 9-10 am.

Despite my pleadings they wouldn't give me more work and told me to just review and test my changes the rest of the day. You can only review and test minor changes so much. So I'd pretend to work until about 10-5 every day. It was a huge mental hurdle to do that every day. Especially since you just couldn't browse the internet at a govt facility.
