I took the required 9 credits and she did a full 12 or 15. We took mostly Japanese classes but she was able to take a couple for her major by working with the professors to get it set up beforehand.

I had a paid internship, which is rare especially outside of Japan, and we had both served missions in Japan so language wasn't an issue like it would be for most wives of RM's. It would be very expensive for most people to do what we did. I highly recommend it though: one of the best experiences of my life and the highlight of my BYU experience.
