Heres my long story cut short.
I was a medical sales rep. My ADD made me a great sales guy but struggled with all the late night extra laptop work on top of being a dad and having church callings that required an organized individual. Life was really hard for lots of reasons. My wife made me try adderall. It helped me be totally organized but ruined what was once an easy going fun loving personality. I was pretty high strung and anxious, but very organized. I wish I had tried vyvanse because that works for my two ADD kids without the high strung anxiety attached. Only problem is that vyvanse costs an arm and a leg. (So we do that for the kids) fast forward. During the recession things went south and I lost my job. I ended up building my own business extracting venom from rattlesnakes and processing it for pharma manufacturing. That job is FANTASTIC for me with my ADD. ADD is like the edge that allows me to do what I do. Maybe you should be an Ambulance driver or something . I'm so hyper focused on something I enjoy that I never dread going to work and I have so much less stress than I ever did before. Since that probably isn't a job you can get right now, I suggest finding something that might be remotely related to something that fascinates you. You might have to work doing something that isn't your favorite for a while, but whatever you do, don't let anything or anyone get you to stop believing in yourself. It was drudgery building my business. I had to be my own legal guy, finance guy, tax guy, zookeeper guy, construction guy and everything in between .You get the picture. Having ADD doesn't make that stuff easy, but the end goal was fascinating enough to me that I wasn't going to give up. I also believe that heaven helped along the way and continues to help. Good luck!
