It's not about being negative. Maybe a few are because that's the nature of
this board. There has to be a few of them. But for every extreme by CBers on one end there is also an extreme on the other. There are posters blowing this way out of proportion as far as what we're getting, or what we can gather from it anyway.

It all needs to be taken in perspective. Negative fans can't just talk about a lack of production in college, and positive ones can't just use something like a recruiting status from ages ago which no longer means much. Everyone needs to meet in the middle where the perspective and truth is.

The reality is that he is a graduate transfer. Most graduate transfers are doing this for a reason. They're upperclassmen and they have been beat out for playing time. Many have failed to produce a whole lot in college and didn't capitalize on opportunities given to them. Something obviously just isn't clicking when a highly rated recruit hardly does anything through a whole career in college. In college he was beat out multiple times and never grasped the job that was there for the taking. And lost it to very average teammates. He's never had a run of 40 yds. He never made it to 100 carries. He was as high as the 2nd man two years ago, and 3rd last year.

The other reality is that there is still potential. There is still more that could possibly be seen with the right fit and different opportunities. There's the reality that he's at least done something in college and at the very worst, he provides depth for a position that has seen 3rd and 4th string guys needing to play the last few years. The reality is that if they had someone like him, even with as little as he's done, it might be the difference between 7 wins and 9 wins last year. It doesn't take much when games come down to a play here and there, and what's hurting you is having to play deep into your depth chart.

So overall he's someone who can win you some games purely because if he's down the depth chart, he's better quality than what they typically have. And that's worst case. He's obviously athletic, and while not awfully fast, he's got a quickness to him that might best be used if they can get him the ball out in space rather than assuming him being 220 means they should use him inside. His best plays in college have come with space on his side. Space to work with so he can make a move and make the first guy miss.
He still has the potential to grab a lot of carries. I don't believe for a second that there's going to be a real "#1" this year. But he has the chance to grab plenty of carries for himself. Up to him if he can be consistent and steal those. He hasn't so far in his career, but even getting 100 carries from him on the season would be a big bonus for BYU.
