The last couple of weeks I’ve done interviews with 70ish students across the state but probably 95% were BYU students and I was shocked how little of an indicator GPA is to competency. We had plenty of 3.95-4.0 and a couple 3.0-3.5 and the best candidate we had was a 3.97 from the U, second best was like a 3.2 from BYU and from there on GPA was a total crapshoot. It’s still really impressive to get a high GPA and I think they have sort of earned a little higher consideration, but it should not be the deciding factor.
