I don't know where he got the kit - but I seem to remember it being ordered from a mail catalog. Maybe Sears or something. It sat in a big wooden box, and that thing was heavy. It also traveled with us from place to place whenever the Air Force sent us somewhere new. I remember looking in the back of that thing, and all you could see was tubes. Big tubes, small tubes, and everything in between. If one broke, it was off to Radio Shack for a replacement. I'm guessing it was about a 30" TV. That was our main TV until we moved overseas when I was 16.
