a 37-foot heave like that - and I think that's being generous - whereas he probably has a 70% chance of scoring if he drives hard to the hoop. He's Damian Lillard - he can score from anywhere on the court, might as well take the shot that has the best chance of going in.

Now, if it was Reggie Miller or somebody who wasn't great at driving to the hoop but could make long range shots, it would make a bit more sense (although even then he could probably get a better shot than a 37-foot heave at the buzzer).
