My wife and I have been in tiny apartments for years, and even we are getting ready to adjust to old, pre-war apartments where garbage disposals aren’t a thing, where we are unlikely to have a washing machine, and where I’m trying to find an apartment that has the luxury of a dishwasher.
Sounds like you won’t have kids at home anymore. Are you ready to live in a tiny 1 bedroom apartment with your wife? I imagine you have like 8 times the space right now. My wife and I are looking at 1 bedrooms apartments right now that are >$2,750 a month.
That’s all assuming you want to live in Manhattan. You can go to an outer borough. You can choose NJ or CT. I lived in NJ last summer for an internship and commuted 3 hours a day, every day. It was too much for me, but soooooo many people do it. You could probably get that down to 2 hours a day by living a bit closer in NJ or many places in CT.
