Exactly, cause Christ asks us to do a lot. So, ya...if you're aiming at
Celestial, one would need to demonstrate works, but I don't believe that means we paid or earned it.
Back to the traditional monetary examples: Christ purchased the entire bike....or paid the entire price of whatever. He didn't pay what we couldn't do on our own. He just flat out paid the whole price.
