I imagine it will help. How old is the phone? These batteries only have a certain number of charge cycles in their life
span. typically ~600-800 cycles. If it drains super fast, it likely needs to be replaced.
One tip - if you get a replacement battery be sure to get one that is authorized by Samsung. These places in the mall, etc. use crap batteries that are many times counterfeit. Get a proper one from Samsung, or an authorized merchant.
Same goes for cracked screens. Get a replacement from an authorized source.
