Yes it does. I would make sure to go through the pending updates before
doing a reset. 2 reasons: First, the update might solve some of the issue. Second, newer versions of android make setting up a fresh phone mostly painless. Signing in with google will prompt a mass download of previously installed apps, bring contacts, photos etc. She may lose messages however and will have to reorganize her apps/widgets etc.
