I don’t know many people who are saying BYU is too good for the AAC. I think the issue is
what is best for BYU and that is not a G5 conference. At the end of the day, we either end up in a P5 or we die so we just have to choose the path that gives us the easiest access to that. That’s probably staying the course as an Independent.
P5 May never happen and we have to accept that. Indy gives us the best chance at being considered close to P5 even though we obviously aren’t.

The problem with your thinking is that you think winning an AAC championship means some thing, but it doesn't.
