No front loaded scheduled = less injuries
Less P5 opponents = less losses
Even cupcake 11-1 looks better than a tough SOS with 4 or 5 losses
Conference champion, even of Crap Western Conference is one more game, against (usually) a ranked opponent
Look, it's late and I dont even know why I'm arguing this. Since 2014 Boise, Western Michigan, Houston, and UCF (twice) have all proven that G5s can compete at an elite level. Why are we so stubborn as a fan base to see the path to success and say "Nope, we'll do it a different way"?
Yet somehow we're going to pull together a magic season and go 11-1 or 12-0 against a) rival teams we struggle to beat b) winning against P5 schools c) and hope these 'garbage' G5 teams not be ranked when they have an additional championship game under their belt.
What is our goal? To be an easy win against P5 teams from the comfort of our couches? To boast to Utah fan we played USC and U.Washington at home? or we played two or three P5 conferences a season? No one will remember that BYU had a lot of money, good TV contracts, and a great variety of FBS opponents.
