RE: Two can twist facts...
1. "It also makes it so we aren't G5" That is the biggest bunch of male cow crap I've ever heard on here.

Maybe clumsily expressed by the poster, but BYU is an enigma in that all P5 conference consider BYU a P5 opponent which impacts scheduling moving forward. this is advantage to BYU that no other G5 school enjoys. As SOS becomes more and more of a factor in who gets into the playoffs, BYU becomes an important cog in that they are flexible in scheduling and the P5 can use them as leverage of a stronger schedule regardless of BYU's record.

2. "if you think joining a conference is going to land us in NY6 bowls all the time"

I never said that, but at least BYU would have a chance. I compare BYU to UCF, which is better?

Are you saying that BYU would have a chance vs not having one now? BYU still has to win enough games to be eligible. However winning enough games with their current scheduling is going to get them to a NY6 bowl and give them a shot at the playoffs. UCF will not have a shot at the playoffs no matter how many times they go undefeated with their conference schedule. BYU being considered a P5 quality opponent for P5 scheduling requirements to avoid softer scheduling will benefit BYU the year they catch lightning in a bottle. UCF not so much since no matter how good they are they won't be considered the same. So P5 has a chance to schedule BYU or UCF, they are taking BYU because BYU gets them that extra p5 opponent per scheduling so win or lose they benefit, losing to UCF however is a lose lose.

Hey you are either in it to win it all or you don't care enough to stick your neck out there and go for it. BYU is going for it. Win or lose. Some don't like that strategy. Others find safety in joining a conference regardless of that conference status. Going it alone is extremely difficult.
