It's a one-to-one transaction. Every time BYU gets a payday for playing an
extra road game it has to pay a team to come to Provo, otherwise it will only have 6 home games. That's a pretty straight-forward concept. Of course, it may be spread out over multiple years given how the contracted dates for games shake out, but over time if you're going to have 6 home games then you have to either have H-H contracts or every time you do a one-off or an uneven series (like a 2-for-1) then you have to pay someone to come to Provo. It's really not a terribly complicated concept. And to be clear, there is only net "road revenue" when there is a one-of or an uneven series; there is no net "road revenue" in a H-H contract.
